CFC Inks New Pact with Statewide Film Offices

FLICS Increase Marketing Presence To Advance Film Production

________________________________________

It's been a whirlwind year for the Film Liaisons In California Statewide(FLICS). Last June the FLICS reorganized to form a new non-profit corporation to further the common interests of all statewide local film offices to attract and retain motion picture production in California.  This collaboration between the nearly 60 local film offices throughout the state of California will help promote various regions of the state, assist filmmakers, and create a marketing strategy to attract productions to the state.  Amy Lemisch, Director of the California Film Commission CFC and Ray Arthur, Chairman of the FLICS Corporation, solidified their efforts by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the FLICS Non Profit Corporation and the California Film Commission at the CFC's quarterly board meeting on September 30th in Beverly Hills.

"With increased competition from other states and countries, the diverse regions of the state must work together to help fight the flow of production out of the state. Our MOU creates new and exciting opportunities for the CFC and the FLICS to work together in the future."

"More and more local governments are realizing the economic benefits that filming brings to their cities and counties, with increased jobs andspending at a variety of local businesses," added Lemisch.  "This partnership with local regions reinforces the state's commitment to attract and retain film production and to bring more jobs and revenue to California."

The FLICS current marketing program includes its annual California On Location Awards (COLA) ceremony which will be held on October 23rd at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown, and will be augmented in 2006 by the first annual FLICS California Only On Locations Exposition.
